Peter Foster is a Melbourne-based photographer and filmmaker who’s been trying (and failing) to stick to one visual discipline for over a decade. His work spans just about everything: commercial advertising campaigns, documentaries, portraiture, fashion, arts and culture, major events, and the occasional weird-but-wonderful project that defies any sensible category.

He's known for having a foot in both the still and moving image worlds — which is a poetic way of saying he owns too much gear and refuses to choose. This flexibility has led to collaborations with brands like Bombay Sapphire, Visit Victoria, and the mighty MCG, and his images have popped up in places like Vogue Australia, Vogue India, and Variety (yes, the one in Hollywood — go figure).

Peter’s also shot for exhibitions at the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art (ACCA), covered the Boxing Day Test at the MCG, and somehow ended up deep in the outback telling human stories where the nearest coffee is three hours away.

His approach is simple: listen closely, light things well, don’t be a jerk, and always get the shot. Whether it’s the largest campaign or a small community story, he’ll bring curiosity, a steady hand, and a mild addiction to weather apps.

Available for projects across Australia and beyond — especially if they involve good people, interesting places, or snacks.
